You’ve heard her voice: “Hello, Rockbox Theater. This is Danice speaking. How may I help you?” But just who is that nice gal on the other end of the line? Well, your bloggin dee-jay, Johnny Hits, scored an interview so you can get to know Danice Weaver. Any cast member will tell you -- it takes a whole lot of dedicated people to keep things running smoothly at the Rockbox. And besides being one of the hardest-working behind-the-scenes employees at Rockbox Theater, Danice also happens to be one of the nicest folks you’ll ever meet.
Danice, tell us a little bit about yourself.
Well, I have an incredible family. Jim and I have been married for 24 years this April and we have one 15 year-old, Amber. We stay really busy -- you won’t find us with many lazy hours. We have a Chocolate Lab (Reece) and a cockatiel (Baylor -- Amber has wanted to attend Baylor since she was in 4th grade!) We are currently building our dream house and can’t wait to move in (hopefully sometime in July).
No doubt it takes a lot of work to keep the “Rockbox machine” running all week long. Give us a rundown of your typical day.
First, I retrieve all of the messages from the evening before. Then I take care of those guests, securing their reservations and answering questions. Next, on any given day, I have all sorts of “special projects” from our creative director, whom I have had the privilege of working with for many years now. Every single customer is very important to us and we hope that it shows. From the time someone makes plans to attend, special care has been taken to make sure your reservations are correct. As a matter of fact, each individual reservation is looked at and verified at least three times.
Danice, you probably talk to our patrons more than anyone. What do the fans like about Rockbox and what keeps them coming back for more?
Without a doubt it’s the quality of entertainment – the cast and crew are just awesome. Second to that, I think it’s the feeling that our fans get that they are truly appreciated and important to us. And they are.
Okay, we couldn’t get though this interview without one small sales pitch. Any deals or upcoming events that you think our readers want to know about?
This one is easy for me! Season Tickets are a great value. Something that I would like to clear up -- the season passes are not for the 12-month calendar year. Rather, they are good for one year from the date of purchase. So I’d like to encourage everyone to purchase season passes, use them for yourself, and share the Rockbox experience with your family and friends.
And regarding upcoming events, I am really excited and touched to be a small part of the “Special Event” coming up in May (read more about it on this blog).
And finally, what’s your favorite thing about working for Rockbox?
I truly enjoy our guests and love the people I work with. We are a group of people who have been brought together for a specific purpose.
